A Yakutian laika was made out of the mammoth tusk in the form of a souvenir badge. Tugrik was taken as a sample. He is a multiple Russian champion. Cool, isn’t it!

A week ago there were some huge ice pieces floating on the Lena river tributary in the suburb of Yakutsk, the capital of Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). Today it is almost ice-covered and fishermen enjoy the warmth of the early winter and the first ice fishing opportunity.
Yep, Ogonyok, 1 y.o. Yakutian laika, was happy to run through snow. It’s his best season, I guess.

This time our friends, Andrey and Anastasiya, brought professional photographs of their Yakutian laika puppies born in Novosibirsk (Siberia / Russia) on August 13, 2011. Previously, we showed mobile pictures.
Enjoy puppies photos. They are so awesome! Hard not to fell in love with them. By the way, if you wish, you can get some of them, just contact Andrey and Anastasiya via facebook.
Further, please, find more cute puppies. Read and see more »

A nice family, Andrey and Anastasiya, live in Novosibirsk, Russia. They’ve got cute Yakutian laika puppies. Take a look at photographs below. They were born just recently. Nice, aren’t they?

My Ogonyok is now a big Yakutian laika, but still a puppy. He is 8 months old. Today, May 28th, 2011, he made me smile. As usually he was happy about running the Lena River tributary bank in Yakutsk, Russia’s Siberian city, jumping from waves and swilling water.
Oh, year, a couple of weeks ago, we had ice floating on the river. Soon all the ice with snow got melted fast. More about the fast weather changes in May, you can learn at eYakutia.com.
The same place, where Ogonyok and Marishka tend to play in snow, is full of water.
So… when I was enjoying the view in general, taking pictures of waves, a boat, a gull, Ogonyok suddenly decided to open the swimming season. See below how it happened. Afterwards, he became looking different and funny… wet and totally dirty
My Ogonyok (his full official name is Arctic Travel Ogonyok) is big now. 6 month old.
Last Sunday we spent at the Sakha Travel Exhibition held annually in Yakutsk, Siberia/Russia. We stood in front of the Arctic Travel company booth.
Oh, he was like a super star. A couple of hours later, Ajar brought his beautiful Marishka and they looked like a mega star couple
) They grabbed exhibit visitors’ attention and many wished to take pictures with them! That’s cool.

The snowy Siberian taiga is like the other world. When you are in, you cannot stop admiring it. It’s like space. You are taking a look around and you get feeling that you have already lost in its magic boundless entity. And when you are dog sledding through the winter taiga, you understand, “It’s already a space journey.” Especially, when you are travelling with such real Siberian dogs like Yakutian laikas.
Further, please, find the photo report on the recent Yakutian laika dog sledding journey from Yakutsk (Yakutia/Russia) to hunters’ hut located in the depth of the Siberian taiga.
Starting point: the Chochur Muran ethno complex.
Destination: hunters’ hut in the taiga.
Distance: 35 km on one way.

This morning we had around -40C. A regular cold morning. Irrespective to that fact, my 4-month-old puppy was unstoppable. He was running, running, running, running… and I watched, watched, watched, and watched at him. It seemed he wouldn’t ever get tired… but… he got feeling cold and I said, “Yeah, time to go back home!”
Just wonder, if he has all themakings for dog sledding and hunting.
